Guide to Eloping in London

London Elopement Wedding Photography guide

Yay, you have chosen to elope in London! If you are looking for city chic wedding inspiration, you are in the right place. I have put together some tips, tricks to planning your London Town Hall wedding and locations for your wedding portraits.

Not sure where to have your legal ceremony? Here’s a list of my favourite London Town Hall wedding venues:

Old Marylebone Town Hall
Chelsea Old Town Hall
Hackney Town Hall
Islington Town Hall

Getting ready

Transport in London can be hectic right? Do you want to get stuck in a cab trying to get across the other side of London on the way to your ceremony? Don’t fancy getting your dress scuffed up on the Tube? The best advice I can give is get ready in a hotel close to your venue, Hayley got ready at the Landmark Hotel and walked across the road to Old Marylebone Town Hall! Dorset Square Hotel is also close by, and right next to Marylebone Station. Here’s a top secret, get ready together if this is more your thing, or have a first-look and photos together before your ceremony. Make your day work for you without the pressure of fitting tradition.

THE CEREMONY AND THOSE ICONIC TOWN HALL PHOTOS

London Town Hall weddings are run like clock-work by the venue staff. Your ceremony will likely be 15-20 minutes, and you’ll have a short amount of time for photos as you walk out of the building and for photos afterwards.

I recommend you bring confetti, organise a list of any group shots you would like before the day.

It is likely you have chosen your London elopement venue for its beautiful setting, so let’s make the most of it!

Old Marylebone Town Hall for example, generally give 15 minutes after your ceremony for those shots, sometimes it can be more if there are less weddings happening after yours, but keep this in mind for your timeline.

LONDON IS YOUR PLAYGROUND

So now you have done all the important photos, let’s have some fun!

Jump in a cab, or strut around the streets to get to some of those more iconic places, stop for a cocktail in a gorgeous bar, whatever your vibe is, we will do it! If you’re a London local, you may already have some ideas of where you would like to go for more couple portraits but if you are unsure just let me know and I can help plot us some great places.

PS: Grab a bottle of bubbly and have a champagne spray to celebrate your nuptials just the two of you!

WHERE’S THE PARTY?

Fancy some cocktails and cake with your loved ones? Take the time to relax and have some informal speeches or toasts together. Change into your party dress and shed your jacket, chill with your guests, soak up the atmosphere as I grab some lovely candids for you.
